I've Had Fibromyalgia Since the Pre-teen Years

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia when I was 12 years old, and have probably been living with it for much longer then that. It can be very difficult sometimes, to function, and just to not getting depressed can pose as a daily challenge. Waking up sore, with tight, achy muscles is almost a ritual anymore; sometimes it can take hours just to be able to get out of bed. It seems sometimes that my entire body aches, and for no good reason. The pain that it causes can prevent my abilities to do simple daily chores, such as getting the mail, doing grocery shopping, cooking dinner, and certainly impacts my ability to do any kind of physical work. Lifting heavy objects, running or even jogging, sometimes even just taking the dogs for a walk can prove to be too strenuous on the body. Dealing with Fibromyalgia has actually proven to be the hardest part about having it. Having people around that understand and are supportive help significantly. I have personally found that I prefer not to take most of the prescription medications that my doctor has recommended over the years. I have tried numerous different things, and nothing had ever really helped. The best solution to dealing with this disease in an overall mentally and physical way, is to do Yoga. I try to at least stretch every day, and if I'm feeling good enough I'll do a light work out. I try to never put stress on my body or my muscles in a way that is just going to worsen the condition. Basically, I do what I can when I can, and the rest of the time I surround myself with people that love me.
