Disease Prevention

Disease Prevention Is Health

Are you taking care of yourself? Are you aware of the top three diseases that could kill you and ways to prevent it? Then if not, this is the start of your days of disease prevention. But before anything else let me introduce to you the top three.

Starting at top three is the disease every body calls cancer. Cancer is a class of diseases in which a certain group of cells display uncontrolled growth, invasion or metastasis. This disease affects any age and causes 13% of all deaths. In 2007, according to the American Cancer Society, 7.6 million people died from cancer.

On our top two is Stroke. This is the disease that involves the rapid and progressing loss of brain functions that is caused by the disturbance in the blood supply to the brain. It is as of now the second leading cause of death in the Western World and kills 10% of death worldwide.

Then for our number 1, it is no other than heart disease. Heart disease is an umbrella term for different kinds of illnesses that affect the heart. According to the statistics of the year 2007, it is the leading cause of death in England, Canada, Wales and the United States. In the US alone, heart diseases kill one person every 34 seconds.

So now that you know that top three diseases, what can you do to prevent it? Well, there are a lot of disease prevention tips that you can do. For starters, you can start exercising and improve your physical fitness. A simple 30 minute walk per day can already be healthy for you. If you can't do those maybe divide it into three brisk 10-minute walks in a day. Whatever exercise you can do, you must do it because exercise is a sure way to live longer.

Then another tip would be to control your stress. A quick short hug every day before work from your partner can already help you to be calm for the rest of the day. Crying can also lessen stress as it boosts your immune system, eliminate depression, reduce levels of your stress hormones and make you think more clearly. And then twice a day breathe deeply for three to six minutes. These are simple tips but they are effective so be sure to do them.

Then another tip is to sleep well. Pillows that have an indent in the center, eating walnuts before bed and also spraying your pillow with lavender water can all promote relaxation. Then lastly, a very important prevention tip in preventing disease is to have a good diet. Maintaining a good and healthy diet is one of the most effective ways to prevent diseases. Losing weight or maintaining a healthy weight can already prevent you from heart attacks and other illnesses such as arthritis, high blood pressures and certain cancers. You can maintain a healthy weight by eating more low-energy-dense foods such as fruits and vegetables. Your fruits and vegetables should involve eating deep green veggies like broccoli which can prevent colon cancer, spinach and kale. You should also eat a lot of red tomatoes, carrots, sweet potatoes, squash, eggplants, plums, blueberries and cherries.

Then having a good diet also involves eating whole grains and fat-free or low-fat milk products, eating lean meats, fish, beans, eggs, nuts and poultry and avoiding foods that are high in saturated fats, trans fats, sodium salt, cholesterol and added sugars.

So if you are really serious about living longer then follow this disease prevention tips and reap the benefits of a healthy longer life.
