Diagnosed At Age 24

Being diagnosed with Fibromyalgia at the age of 24 was surprising. I had these pains most of my life and to be answered was finally a breakthrough for me. At first I was put on medications that would help me sleep and increase the serotonins because they felt that "fibro" effected this greatly. For ninety days it was trial and error with the dosage. I felt worse than what I did before I began but the doctor told me to just hang in there and I would supposedly see a difference soon enough. I never did and felt more depressed than I have ever felt. After the trial run for that medication I decided with my doctor that I did not need anymore medications. I had a young child and myself to look after. My moods were better off with out them. Whenever I have a really bad episode of pain, I simply take an over-the-counter pain reliever and just get on with my day. The pain is intense sometimes but I have learned that it can be a mind over matter deal. The pain is worse when I do physical activities, like working out or bringing in arm full of groceries. The pain sets in within minutes. I am constantly correcting my posture because it effects my shoulders mainly. Since being diagnosed with this pain disorder, I do not live my life differently. I continue on doing what I have always done. I know the pain will become more severe the older I get, but all I can do for now is enjoy the life that I have.
